Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 54%. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

Malaysia was the key exporter of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings in ASEAN, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. 71% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), constituting a 27% share of total exports. Thailand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Malaysia totaled -16.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (-4.0% per year) and Thailand (+20.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 4.6% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 41% against the previous year. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN

In 2021, overseas purchases of ceramic pipes, conduits, guttering and pipe fittings were finally on the rise to reach X tons after eight years of decline. Overall, imports, however, faced a abrupt setback. Over the period under review, imports of reached the peak figure at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 4.5%. Imports by Country

Singapore (X tons) and Brunei Darussalam (X tons) prevails in fittings structure, together mixing up 83% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), mixing up a 7.5% share of total imports. Myanmar (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +28.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, the largest ceramic pipe, conduit, guttering and pipe fitting importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Vietnam ($X), with a combined 75% share of total imports. Brunei Darussalam and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 12%.

Among the main importing countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +31.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -28.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 when the import price increased by 43% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2020, and then contracted significantly in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Brunei Darussalam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
