Exports by Country

Vietnam was the largest exporter of chandeliers in ASEAN, with the volume of exports amounting to X units, which was approx. 44% of total exports in 2022. The Philippines (X units) took a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (15%), Malaysia (14%) and Singapore (4.7%). Indonesia (X units) and Cambodia (X units) held a minor share of total exports.

Exports from Vietnam increased at an average annual rate of +6.9% from 2020 to 2022. At the same time, Cambodia (+75.5%), the Philippines (+41.5%), Indonesia (+16.3%), Thailand (+13.6%) and Malaysia (+4.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +75.5% from 2020-2022. By contrast, Singapore (-6.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. The Philippines (+6.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam saw its share reduced by -2%, -2% and -4.2% from 2020 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest chandelier supplier in ASEAN, comprising 42% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Philippines ($X), with a 15% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 14% share.

From 2020 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Vietnam totaled +17.2%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: the Philippines (+51.0% per year) and Thailand (+25.2% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -5.5% against the previous year. Over the last two years, it increased at an average annual rate of +13.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the export price increased by 36% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then fell in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2020 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+96.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ASEAN

In 2022, overseas purchases of chandeliers were finally on the rise to reach X units after two years of decline. Overall, imports saw a prominent expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 58% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, chandelier imports fell modestly to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 14%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2021, and then fell modestly in the following year.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the three major importers of chandeliers, namely Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Singapore (X units) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X units) and Indonesia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 28% share of total imports. Cambodia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +42.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Singapore ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 63% share of total imports. The Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +31.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -37.4% against the previous year. In general, the import price showed a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 113%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (-5.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
