There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

For the fourth year in a row, ASEAN recorded growth in overseas purchases of chlorine, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. In general, imports enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Malaysia was the key importing country with an import of about X tons, which recorded X% of total imports. Indonesia (X tons), Brunei Darussalam (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Malaysia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the chlorine imports, with a CAGR of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X%) and Cambodia (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Brunei Darussalam experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
