In value terms, spacecraft production surged to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Overall, production posted significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 387%. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2021 to 2022, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in ASEAN
In 2022, overseas shipments of civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles decreased by -62.8% to X units, falling for the third consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 2,673% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, spacecraft exports expanded slightly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 5,084%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Singapore (X units) and Malaysia (X units) dominates exports structure, together achieving 93% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X units), constituting a 6.9% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +16.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest spacecraft supplier in ASEAN, comprising 75% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Indonesia ($X), with a 22% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore stood at +69.2%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+8.1% per year) and Malaysia (-22.8% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, rising by 180% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 319% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+45.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
After two years of growth, purchases abroad of civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles decreased by -59% to X units in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 6,183% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
In value terms, spacecraft imports shrank dramatically to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 with an increase of 14,191%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2021, and then dropped sharply in the following year.
Imports by Country
The Philippines (X units) and Malaysia (X units) prevails in imports structure, together committing 92% of total imports. Indonesia (X units) and Thailand (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +5,200.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported civil spacecraft, satellites and launch vehicles in ASEAN, comprising 96% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 3.6% share of total imports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 0.2% share.
In Malaysia, spacecraft imports increased at an average annual rate of +101.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+120.0% per year) and the Philippines (-45.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2022, rising by 12% against the previous year. In general, the import price posted a resilient expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 an increase of 2,266% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2016 to 2022, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
