Copper Screw Market Size in ASEAN

The ASEAN copper screw market soared to $X in 2021, jumping by 16% against the previous year. In general, consumption, however, saw a pronounced slump. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Copper Screw Production in ASEAN

In value terms, copper screw production expanded remarkably to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, showed a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the maximum level at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in ASEAN

In 2021, overseas shipments of copper screws, bolts and nuts increased by 36% to X tons for the first time since 2017, thus ending a three-year declining trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 66%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at X tons in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, copper screw exports soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a deep slump. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Singapore (X tons) was the main exporter of copper screws, bolts and nuts, creating 57% of total exports. Malaysia (X tons) held a 16% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (14%), Indonesia (6.9%) and Vietnam (5.6%).

Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of copper screws, bolts and nuts. At the same time, Thailand (+12.1%) and Vietnam (+3.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +12.1% from 2012-2021. Indonesia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Malaysia (-16.7%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Singapore (+22 p.p.), Thailand (+11 p.p.), Vietnam (+2.7 p.p.) and Indonesia (+2.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia saw its share reduced by -38.5% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest copper screw supplier in ASEAN, comprising 55% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 20% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 14% share.

In Singapore, copper screw exports decreased by an average annual rate of -4.8% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (-16.5% per year) and Vietnam (-3.5% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2021, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 43% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a pronounced downturn. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+6.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Copper Screw Imports

Imports in ASEAN

In 2021, approx. X tons of copper screws, bolts and nuts were imported in ASEAN; picking up by 12% compared with 2020. Overall, imports saw a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 77%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, copper screw imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 51%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Indonesia (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) were the key importers of copper screws, bolts and nuts in ASEAN, together amounting to approx. 57% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Thailand (X tons), together generating a 38% share of total imports. Myanmar (X tons) took a little share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +22.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest copper screw importing markets in ASEAN were Indonesia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and the Philippines ($X), with a combined 72% share of total imports.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of +26.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, surging by 16% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when the import price increased by 17%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2016 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
