In value terms, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports reached $X in 2022. At the same time, Malaysia (+11.8%), Vietnam (+9.9%) and Indonesia (+3.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +11.8% from 2012-2022. In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest crispbread, rusk and toasted bread supplier in ASEAN, comprising 79% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Vietnam ($X), with an 11% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 6.1% share.
In Thailand, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+9.7% per year) and Malaysia (+7.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, increasing by 3.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 6.4%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (-0.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2022, approx. X tons of crispbread, rusks and toasted bread were imported in ASEAN; increasing by 8.9% against 2021. Total imports indicated prominent growth from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.9% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -8.2% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, crispbread, rusk and toasted bread imports contracted slightly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 13%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the Philippines (X tons), distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) were the largest importers of crispbread, rusks and toasted bread, together constituting 91% of total imports. Thailand (X tons) took a little share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Malaysia (with a CAGR of +24.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X), Malaysia ($X) and the Philippines ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 55% of total imports.
Among the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +28.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, shrinking by -12.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a abrupt downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 16% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
