The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 19% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+19.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Electronic material tester imports skyrocketed to X units in 2021, increasing by 18% on 2020. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, electronic material tester imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. Overall, imports, however, recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 10% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Vietnam (X units) and Indonesia (X units) represented roughly 65% of total imports in 2021. The Philippines (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Thailand ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together comprising 71% of total imports. These countries were followed by Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Cambodia, which together accounted for a further 29%.

Among the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +13.7%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, which is down by -8.1% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 29% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Cambodia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
