In value terms, flaked or rolled cereal production reached $X in 2022 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production decreased by -2.1% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when the production volume increased by 22%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2020; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.

Flaked or rolled cereal exports plummeted to X tons in 2022, reducing by -36.9% against the year before. In general, exports, however, saw a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 91% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, flaked or rolled cereal exports fell sharply to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 54%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) was the main exporter of flaked or rolled cereals, generating 58% of total exports. Malaysia (X tons) held a 28% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Myanmar (8.5%). Thailand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Exports from Lao People's Democratic Republic increased at an average annual rate of +37.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Myanmar (+79.2%), Thailand (+8.0%) and Malaysia (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +79.2% from 2012-2022. Lao People's Democratic Republic (+50 p.p.) and Myanmar (+8.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Thailand and Malaysia saw its share reduced by -1.9% and -41.7% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X) and Thailand ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2022, together accounting for 90% of total exports. These countries were followed by Myanmar, which accounted for a further 4.7%.
Myanmar, with a CAGR of +104.6%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, growing by 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+14.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2022, after two years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of flaked or rolled cereals, when their volume decreased by -37.2% to X tons. Over the period under review, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 89%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, flaked or rolled cereal imports declined dramatically to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a noticeable descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 27%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, Thailand (X tons), distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) were the key importers of flaked or rolled cereals, together making up 99% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +22.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X), Thailand ($X) and the Philippines ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together accounting for 71% of total imports. Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +25.3%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 27% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 32%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
