Thailand (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) prevails in exports structure, together making up 93% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), mixing up a 6.6% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +35.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 95% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Singapore, with a CAGR of +21.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, which is down by -8.9% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed a noticeable decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 46% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2021, the amount of fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines imported in ASEAN expanded remarkably to X tons, with an increase of 8.5% compared with 2020. Overall, imports enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when imports increased by 41%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. In general, imports recorded a resilient increase. It was distantly followed by Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) and Singapore (X tons), together creating an 18% share of total imports. Indonesia (X tons), Cambodia (X tons) and Brunei Darussalam (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Lao People's Democratic Republic (with a CAGR of +42.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodines in ASEAN, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 12% share.
In Singapore, fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine imports increased at an average annual rate of +20.7% over the period from 2012-2021.
