Frozen Poultry Liver Market Size in ASEAN

In 2022, the ASEAN frozen poultry liver market increased by 6.3% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +2.5% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The total production indicated a resilient increase from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, production increased by +2.2% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 when the production volume increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

Frozen poultry liver exports fell slightly to X tons in 2022, waning by -3.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, exports, however, posted a buoyant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 59% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons. From 2020 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, frozen poultry liver exports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, recorded resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 73%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Thailand dominates exports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 90% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons), constituting a 7.6% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to frozen poultry liver exports from Thailand stood at +15.3%. At the same time, Singapore (+19.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +19.1% from 2012-2022. While the share of Thailand (+11 p.p.) and Singapore (+2.8 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest frozen poultry liver supplier in ASEAN, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 4.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Thailand amounted to +20.3%.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.7%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Singapore stood at $X per ton.

Imports in ASEAN

In 2022, supplies from abroad of frozen poultry livers and offal was finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 36%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, frozen poultry liver imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when imports increased by 38%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

The Philippines represented the largest importer of frozen poultry livers and offal in ASEAN, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 44% of total imports in 2022. Vietnam (X tons) held a 26% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Singapore (16%) and Malaysia (10%). Cambodia (X tons) held a minor share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +34.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the Philippines ($X), Singapore ($X) and Vietnam ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 85% share of total imports. Malaysia and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 14%.

Among the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +40.6%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 11% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 13% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton; afterwards, it flattened through to 2022.
