There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+7.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN

In 2021, approx. X tons of granules, chippings and powder of monumental stone were imported in ASEAN; picking up by 334% on 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a deep downturn. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Singapore represented the key importer of granules, chippings and powder of monumental stone in ASEAN, with the volume of imports finishing at X tons, which was near 75% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X tons), generating a 16% share of total imports. The following importers - Thailand (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) - together made up 5.7% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to monumental stone granules and powder imports into Singapore stood at -15.9%. At the same time, Indonesia (+23.3%) and Thailand (+9.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Indonesia, with a CAGR of +5.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, with a decrease of -75.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a perceptible increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 317% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Singapore ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
