The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 35% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Thailand (X units) represented the largest importer of hair brushes and shaving and toilet brushes for personal use, constituting 51% of total imports. Malaysia (X units) took a 17% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Philippines (9.5%), Indonesia (8.4%), Singapore (6.1%) and Myanmar (5.5%). In value terms, the largest hair, shaving and toilet brush importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Singapore ($X), with a combined 53% share of total imports. The Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 45%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +18.9%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, waning by -23.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 33%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
