The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 with an increase of 156% against the previous year. Thailand dominates exports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 85% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units) and Indonesia (X units), together constituting a 14% share of total exports.

Exports from Thailand increased at an average annual rate of +2.0% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+4.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +4.0% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Singapore (-15.8%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Thailand (+31 p.p.) and Indonesia (+2.2 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Singapore saw its share reduced by -32.6% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest hand sieve supplier in ASEAN, comprising 82% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 15% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Thailand amounted to -5.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (-16.7% per year) and Indonesia (+7.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2022, dropping by -9% against the previous year. In general, the export price recorded a abrupt descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 372%. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+3.6%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, overseas purchases of hand sieves and hand riddles decreased by -17.5% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 242%. As a result, imports attained the peak of X units, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In value terms, hand sieve imports reduced to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, enjoyed significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 239%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X, and then dropped in the following year.

The Philippines prevails in imports structure, reaching X units, which was approx. 88% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Indonesia (X units), making up an 8.9% share of total imports.

The Philippines was also the fastest-growing in terms of the hand sieves and hand riddles imports, with a CAGR of +84.9% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+10.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the Philippines increased by +85 percentage points.

In value terms, the Philippines ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported hand sieves and hand riddles in ASEAN, comprising 84% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 12% share of total imports.

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2022, increasing by 10% against the previous year. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 30%. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the Philippines totaled $X per unit.
