In value terms, magnesium hydroxide and peroxide exports amounted to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a pronounced expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 167%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Singapore (X tons) was the major exporter of hydroxide and peroxide of magnesium, oxides, hydroxides and peroxides of strontium or barium, making up 79% of total exports. Thailand (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total exports with an 11% share, followed by Malaysia (4.6%). Vietnam (X tons) held a little share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to magnesium hydroxide and peroxide exports from Singapore stood at +22.3%. At the same time, Thailand (+24.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Thailand emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +24.9% from 2012-2022. In Singapore, magnesium hydroxide and peroxide exports increased at an average annual rate of +5.6% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (+18.7% per year) and Malaysia (-11.3% per year).

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, picking up by 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a slight descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 70%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Malaysia ($X per ton) and Thailand ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) and Singapore ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+12.2%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at X tons in 2021, and then declined markedly in the following year.

The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.6% from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 with an increase of 37%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2021, and then declined notably in the following year.

The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when the import price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
