Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, with an increase of 4.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a significant decrease. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Indonesia totaled $X per ton.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (-16.6%).

Imports in ASEAN

In 2021, imines imports in ASEAN soared to X tons, jumping by 20% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imines imports expanded sharply to $X in 2021. In general, imports showed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 36%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Singapore (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) were the key importers of imines and their derivatives and salts thereof in 2021, accounting for approx. 29% and 28% of total imports, respectively. Vietnam (X tons) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 18% share, followed by Malaysia (12%) and Indonesia (8.7%). The Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Singapore (with a CAGR of +28.2%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported imines and their derivatives and salts thereof in ASEAN, comprising 45% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 21% share of total imports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore amounted to +24.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Thailand (+2.9% per year) and Vietnam (+16.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country
