There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Vietnam ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+4.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, the amount of industrial automatic sewing machines imported in ASEAN reduced remarkably to X units, dropping by -15.2% on the previous year's figure. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of 77% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, industrial automatic sewing machine imports contracted to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 59%. At the same time, Malaysia (+33.8%), Thailand (+8.0%) and Indonesia (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +33.8% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Cambodia (-4.3%), Myanmar (-10.6%) and Singapore (-25.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+36 p.p.), Malaysia (+11 p.p.) and Thailand (+7.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Cambodia, Myanmar and Singapore saw its share reduced by -1.8%, -12.3% and -41.1% from 2012 to 2022, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, the largest industrial automatic sewing machine importing markets in ASEAN were Vietnam ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Malaysia ($X), together comprising 90% of total imports.

In terms of the main importing countries, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +44.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, industrial automatic sewing machine import price increased by +64.6% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the import price increased by 49%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
