The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +63.0% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 31%. Exports by Country
Vietnam was the main exporter of laptops and palm-top computers in ASEAN, with the volume of exports accounting for X units, which was approx. 56% of total exports in 2021. Singapore (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 29% share, followed by Thailand (8.6%). Malaysia (X units) and Indonesia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (+3.4%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of laptops and palm-top computers increased by 43% to X units, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, laptop and tablet computer imports soared to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated notable growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.1% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +111.7% against 2016 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of laptop and tablet computer imports in 2021 were Singapore (X units), Indonesia (X units), Thailand (X units) and Malaysia (X units), together finishing at 87% of total import. It was distantly followed by the Philippines (X units) and Vietnam (X units), together comprising a 12% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +11.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest laptop and tablet computer importing markets in ASEAN were Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Malaysia ($X), with a combined 69% share of total imports. These countries were followed by Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 30%.

Import price indicated measured growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.8% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, laptop and tablet computer import price increased by +57.4% against 2014 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 20%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Thailand ($X per unit) and the Philippines ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) and Vietnam ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
