The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, shipments abroad of machinery for preparing animal feedstuffs decreased by -2.2% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after three years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 70%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, feedstuff preparing machinery exports stood at $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 66%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

In 2021, Singapore (X units) represented the main exporter of machinery for preparing animal feedstuffs, achieving 58% of total exports. Vietnam (X units) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 19% share, followed by Malaysia (16%) and Thailand (5.5%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to feedstuff preparing machinery exports from Singapore stood at +3.2%. At the same time, Malaysia (+7.4%) and Vietnam (+5.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +7.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-18.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam increased by +14, +7.6 and +7.2 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest feedstuff preparing machinery supplier in ASEAN, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 21% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 15% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore amounted to +3.1%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (+7.2% per year) and Malaysia (+6.0% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, increasing by 5.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 17% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+1.7%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of machinery for preparing animal feedstuffs increased by 104% to X units in 2021. Total imports indicated resilient growth from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, feedstuff preparing machinery imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.9% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Vietnam (X units), the Philippines (X units), Thailand (X units) and Indonesia (X units) represented roughly 94% of total imports in 2021. The following importers - Malaysia (X units) and Myanmar (X units) - each reached a 4.2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +34.1%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest feedstuff preparing machinery importing markets in ASEAN were Vietnam ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together accounting for 89% of total imports. These countries were followed by Thailand, Malaysia and Myanmar, which together accounted for a further 9.7%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +33.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -12.3% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 an increase of 18%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
