Exports by Country
Singapore was the key exporter of marine or river navigation instruments and appliances in ASEAN, with the volume of exports resulting at X units, which was near 57% of total exports in 2021. Malaysia (X units) took a 20% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Indonesia (18%). Thailand (X units) held a little share of total exports.
Exports from Singapore decreased at an average annual rate of -5.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Malaysia (+44.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Malaysia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +44.8% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-3.3%) and Indonesia (-16.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Malaysia and Singapore increased by +19 and +7.6 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest marine GPS navigator supplier in ASEAN, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 16% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 2.9% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Singapore was relatively modest. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+30.0% per year) and Indonesia (-7.1% per year).

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 153% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price showed resilient growth. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+11.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2021, purchases abroad of marine or river navigation instruments and appliances increased by 1% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 32% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, marine GPS navigator imports stood at $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 18%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Indonesia represented the largest importer of marine or river navigation instruments and appliances in ASEAN, with the volume of imports finishing at X units, which was approx. 40% of total imports in 2021. Singapore (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Vietnam (X units), Malaysia (X units) and the Philippines (X units). All these countries together took approx. 56% share of total imports. Thailand (X units) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in the Philippines (with a CAGR of +6.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.
