The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 11%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, mixes and doughs exports dropped to $X in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.8% over the period from 2012 to 2022; however, the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 11% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then declined in the following year.
Exports by Country
Singapore represented the major exporter of mixes and doughs in ASEAN, with the volume of exports reaching X tons, which was approx. 57% of total exports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons), together committing a 39% share of total exports. Vietnam (X tons) and the Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to mixes and doughs exports from Singapore stood at +5.3%. At the same time, Indonesia (+23.7%), the Philippines (+7.2%), Malaysia (+4.6%) and Vietnam (+2.7%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +23.7% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Thailand (-1.6%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Singapore and Indonesia increased by +7.6 and +5.2 percentage points, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest mixes and doughs supplier in ASEAN, comprising 64% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Thailand ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with an 11% share.
In Singapore, mixes and doughs exports increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Thailand (-2.0% per year) and Malaysia (+0.7% per year).

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, growing by 4.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the export price increased by 4.6%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+4.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2022, purchases abroad of mixes and doughs decreased by -10.4% to X tons for the first time since 2011, thus ending a ten-year rising trend. Total imports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X tons in 2021, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, mixes and doughs imports soared to $X in 2022. Total imports indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +19.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 23%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Malaysia (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) was the largest importer of mixes and doughs in ASEAN, constituting 94% of total import. Vietnam (X tons) held a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +15.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Indonesia ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, together comprising 67% of total imports.
Indonesia, with a CAGR of +15.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, growing by 31% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. As a result, import price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
