Mould For Glass Market Size in ASEAN

After three years of decline, the ASEAN mould for glass market increased by 0.4% to $X in 2021. The market value increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Mould For Glass Production in ASEAN

In value terms, mould for glass production expanded rapidly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. The total production indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, production decreased by -12.9% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when the production volume increased by 17%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, production stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in ASEAN

Mould for glass exports skyrocketed to X units in 2021, rising by 103% compared with 2020 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a noticeable reduction. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mould for glass exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, recorded a abrupt decline. The level of export peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Thailand represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which resulted at 70% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units) and Vietnam (X units), together making up a 26% share of total exports. Malaysia (X units) took a relatively small share of total exports.

Thailand experienced a relatively flat trend pattern with regard to volume of exports of moulds for glass. At the same time, Singapore (+9.8%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +9.8% from 2012-2021. Vietnam experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Malaysia (-27.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Thailand (+18 p.p.), Singapore (+15 p.p.) and Vietnam (+1.6 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Malaysia saw its share reduced by -27.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest mould for glass supplier in ASEAN, comprising 65% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 26% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 6.1% share.

In Thailand, mould for glass exports declined by an average annual rate of -7.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+10.1% per year) and Vietnam (+2.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -31.4% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when the export price increased by 32% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+1.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Mould For Glass Imports

Imports in ASEAN

In 2021, overseas purchases of moulds for glass decreased by -0.5% to X units, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2012 to 2021; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 15% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, mould for glass imports expanded markedly to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a perceptible downturn. The level of import peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

Thailand represented the largest importer of moulds for glass in ASEAN, with the volume of imports reaching X units, which was approx. 47% of total imports in 2021. The Philippines (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Indonesia (X units) and Malaysia (X units). All these countries together took approx. 45% share of total imports. The following importers - Vietnam (X units) and Singapore (X units) - together made up 6.6% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +21.4%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest mould for glass importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Indonesia ($X), with a combined 84% share of total imports. Malaysia, Vietnam and Singapore lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 15%.

Singapore, with a CAGR of +22.7%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, growing by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a perceptible descent. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in Indonesia ($X per unit) and the Philippines ($X per unit), while Thailand ($X per unit) and Vietnam ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
