The Philippines (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Thailand (X tons) represented roughly 80% of total exports in 2021. Indonesia (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 16% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons) held a little share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +15.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Thailand ($X) and the Philippines ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together comprising 80% of total exports.
Vietnam, with a CAGR of +16.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -7.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 11%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

In 2021, the amount of narrow woven fabrics imported in ASEAN declined to X tons, dropping by -7% on 2020 figures. Total imports indicated a tangible increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 with an increase of 18% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.
In value terms, narrow woven fabric imports totaled $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -6.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when imports increased by 29%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The purchases of the five major importers of narrow woven fabrics, namely Vietnam, Myanmar, Indonesia, Cambodia and Thailand, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by the Philippines (X tons), making up a 5.4% share of total imports. Malaysia (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Myanmar (with a CAGR of +45.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported narrow woven fabrics in ASEAN, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Cambodia, with a 17% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Vietnam stood at +6.8%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (+3.1% per year) and Cambodia (+12.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, rising by 12% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.1%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
