Vietnam was the key exporting country with an export of around X units, which reached 46% of total exports. Malaysia (X units) took a 26% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Singapore (22%) and Thailand (6.3%).
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +48.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest network communications equipment supplier in ASEAN, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 12% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Malaysia totaled +11.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+3.9% per year) and Vietnam (+50.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 26% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per unit), while Vietnam ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2022, the amount of network communications equipment imported in ASEAN surged to X units, rising by 36% compared with the year before. In general, imports continue to indicate a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 37% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, network communications equipment imports skyrocketed to $X in 2022. Overall, imports showed strong growth. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Malaysia (X units) and Singapore (X units) represented roughly 72% of total imports in 2022. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X units), Thailand (X units) and Indonesia (X units), together making up a 25% share of total imports. The Philippines (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +19.7%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported network communications equipment in ASEAN, comprising 43% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 14% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore amounted to +6.3%. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+6.2% per year) and Indonesia (+19.7% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2022, surging by 3.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 an increase of 23%. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
