In 2022, the ASEAN non-domestic dishwashing machine market increased by 2.2% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, consumption recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of the market remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, non-domestic dishwashing machine production declined to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2022, production growth failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, non-domestic dishwashing machine exports in ASEAN declined remarkably to X units, reducing by -15.3% on 2021. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 100%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

In value terms, non-domestic dishwashing machine exports amounted to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a strong expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 103%. The level of export peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

Thailand represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which finished at 83% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units), creating a 13% share of total exports. Malaysia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the non-domestic dish-washing machines exports, with a CAGR of +45.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Singapore (+2.2%) and Malaysia (+1.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Thailand (+71 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Malaysia (-14.7 p.p.) and Singapore (-52.1 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest non-domestic dishwashing machine supplier in ASEAN, comprising 89% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 7.3% share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Thailand amounted to +41.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (-8.3% per year) and Malaysia (-3.7% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 30% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 an increase of 35%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Thailand (-3.0%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN

In 2022, overseas purchases of non-domestic dish-washing machines increased by 30% to X units, rising for the second consecutive year after two years of decline. Total imports indicated a strong increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +75.3% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 59%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, non-domestic dishwashing machine imports expanded remarkably to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a mild descent. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 34%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the five major importers of non-domestic dish-washing machines, namely Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Vietnam (X units), achieving a 4.7% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for the Philippines (with a CAGR of +17.9%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-domestic dishwashing machine importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Indonesia ($X), with a combined 63% share of total imports. Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 34%.

In terms of the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +10.8%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -17.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a drastic downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the import price increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
