Non-Domestic Dryer Market Size in ASEAN

The ASEAN non-domestic dryer market shrank sharply to $X in 2021, reducing by -19.1% against the previous year. Overall, consumption saw a mild setback. As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, the growth of the market remained at a lower figure.

Non-Domestic Dryer Production in ASEAN

In value terms, non-domestic dryer production rose notably to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production, however, recorded a mild contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 37%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, shipments abroad of non-domestic dryers increased by 74% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer exports surged to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a moderate increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +2.2% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Exports by Country

The shipments of the three major exporters of non-domestic dryers, namely Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand, represented more than two-thirds of total export. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X units), achieving a 10% share of total exports. Vietnam (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +9.9%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Indonesia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, together accounting for 85% of total exports.

Thailand, with a CAGR of +10.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, in terms of the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -9.3% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a slight expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020, and then contracted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+14.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Non-Domestic Dryer Imports

Imports in ASEAN

Non-domestic dryer imports shrank dramatically to X units in 2021, which is down by -22.8% compared with 2020 figures. In general, imports showed a mild descent. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, non-domestic dryer imports declined significantly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 when imports increased by 11% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Indonesia (X units) was the key importer of non-domestic dryers, comprising 45% of total imports. Vietnam (X units) held the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Thailand (X units), Singapore (X units), Malaysia (X units) and the Philippines (X units). All these countries together took approx. 52% share of total imports. Cambodia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Cambodia (with a CAGR of +17.8%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest non-domestic dryer importing markets in ASEAN were Vietnam ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Thailand ($X), together comprising 70% of total imports. Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Cambodia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 29%.

In terms of the main importing countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +15.5%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 4.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when the import price increased by 13% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Cambodia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+11.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
