Over the period under review, the exports of reached the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
In value terms, exports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments fell to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.4% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2014 when exports increased by 30% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of hit record highs at $X in 2020, and then fell in the following year.
Exports by Country
Vietnam (X units) and Cambodia (X units) represented roughly 69% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X units) and Indonesia (X units), together creating a 26% share of total exports. Malaysia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the key exporting countries, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +25.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest non-woven, felt and coated textile garment supplier in ASEAN, comprising 54% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Cambodia ($X), with a 22% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 10% share.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Vietnam stood at +5.3%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Cambodia (+20.7% per year) and Thailand (+6.1% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -30.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 an increase of 12%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2020, and then dropped dramatically in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per unit), while Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+3.7%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
Imports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments declined remarkably to X units in 2021, waning by -49% compared with 2020. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 185%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, imports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments reduced rapidly to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed resilient growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 351%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted significantly in the following year.
Imports by Country
The countries with the highest levels of imports of non-woven, felt and coated textile garments in 2021 were Malaysia (X units), the Philippines (X units), Thailand (X units) and Singapore (X units), together finishing at 90% of total import. Cambodia (X units), Indonesia (X units) and Vietnam (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +31.2%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest non-woven, felt and coated textile garment importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Singapore ($X), with a combined 65% share of total imports. Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
Cambodia, with a CAGR of +31.9%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, shrinking by -16.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the import price increased by 468%. Over the period under review, import prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($X per unit), while Malaysia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+38.8%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
