Paper Tablecloths Market Size in ASEAN

The ASEAN paper tablecloths market expanded remarkably to $X in 2021, increasing by 9.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, consumption, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

Paper Tablecloths Production in ASEAN

In value terms, paper tablecloths production expanded sharply to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the production volume increased by 16% against the previous year. As a result, production attained the peak level of $X. From 2014 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in ASEAN

In 2021, after five years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas shipments of paper tablecloths and serviettes, when their volume decreased by -29.1% to X tons. Over the period under review, exports, however, enjoyed a prominent increase. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 87% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2020, and then dropped rapidly in the following year.

In value terms, paper tablecloths exports declined remarkably to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate buoyant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when exports increased by 76%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2020, and then fell remarkably in the following year.

Exports by Country

Vietnam was the main exporter of paper tablecloths and serviettes in ASEAN, with the volume of exports recording X tons, which was approx. 55% of total exports in 2021. Indonesia (X tons) took an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Malaysia (13%) and Thailand (10%). Singapore (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the paper tablecloths and serviettes exports, with a CAGR of +35.9% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+11.4%) and Malaysia (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Thailand (-5.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+47 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand saw its share reduced by -3%, -9.6% and -29.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest paper tablecloths supplier in ASEAN, comprising 57% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 13% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 13% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Vietnam stood at +35.8%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (+2.7% per year) and Indonesia (+7.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, growing by 9% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced reduction. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+0.5%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Paper Tablecloths Imports

Imports in ASEAN

In 2021, purchases abroad of paper tablecloths and serviettes decreased by -10.1% to X tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a perceptible slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when imports increased by 18%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, paper tablecloths imports fell to $X in 2021. Overall, imports saw a mild slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 17%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Imports by Country

The countries with the highest levels of paper tablecloths imports in 2021 were Singapore (X tons), Malaysia (X tons) and Thailand (X tons), together reaching 93% of total import. The Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the leading importing countries, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +23.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported paper tablecloths and serviettes in ASEAN, comprising 53% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 24% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 14% share.

In Singapore, paper tablecloths imports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+19.7% per year) and Thailand (-8.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the import price increased by 10% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
