In value terms, exports of particle board and similar board of ligneous materials (excluding wood) soared to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, faced a deep slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports of reached the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Thailand was the major exporting country with an export of about X cubic meters, which resulted at 72% of total exports. Malaysia (X cubic meters) ranks second in terms of the total exports with a 16% share, followed by Indonesia (7.1%). In Thailand, exports of particle board and similar board of ligneous materials (excluding wood) shrank by an average annual rate of -16.3% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (-16.7% per year) and Indonesia (+94.6% per year).

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 7.2% against the previous year. Malaysia represented the major importing country with an import of around X cubic meters, which finished at 53% of total imports. At the same time, Cambodia (+9.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Cambodia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +9.4% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Thailand (-1.6%), Singapore (-6.9%), Indonesia (-15.1%), Vietnam (-16.9%) and the Philippines (-23.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period.
