The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, bath preparations exports dropped sharply to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 when exports increased by 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, Malaysia (X tons), distantly followed by Thailand (X tons), Indonesia (X tons), Singapore (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) represented the largest exporters of perfumed bath salts and other bath preparations, together committing 99% of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +33.8%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest bath preparations supplying countries in ASEAN were Malaysia ($X), Indonesia ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined 62% share of total exports.

Among the main exporting countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +39.1%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, dropping by -11.5% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 12%. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2020, and then declined in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lao People's Democratic Republic (+5.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, the amount of perfumed bath salts and other bath preparations imported in ASEAN fell to X tons, which is down by -2.4% against 2020 figures. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.7% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 16%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, bath preparations imports reached $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 when imports increased by 23% against the previous year. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

The countries with the highest levels of bath preparations imports in 2021 were Malaysia (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Thailand (X tons), together accounting for 79% of total import. The Philippines (X tons) took an 11% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Vietnam (7.7%). In value terms, Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Malaysia ($X) were the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 80% of total imports. These countries were followed by the Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 19%.

Among the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +17.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 3.1% against the previous year. Over the last nine years, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 8.6%. Over the period under review, import prices attained the maximum in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
