As a result, consumption attained the peak level of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of the market failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, polyamide production expanded slightly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production recorded a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the production volume increased by 17%. The level of production peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, production failed to regain momentum.

In 2021, overseas shipments of polyamides (in primary forms) were finally on the rise to reach X tons after two years of decline. Total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 27% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.
In value terms, polyamide exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated a notable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.8% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Exports by Country
In 2021, Thailand (X tons), distantly followed by Vietnam (X tons), Malaysia (X tons), Singapore (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) were the largest exporters of polyamides (in primary forms), together generating 99% of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Indonesia (with a CAGR of +17.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Malaysia ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 80% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Vietnam and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 19%.
Indonesia, with a CAGR of +10.4%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 26% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, saw a pronounced contraction. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+1.4%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2021, after two years of decline, there was significant growth in purchases abroad of polyamides (in primary forms), when their volume increased by 18% to X tons. Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, polyamide imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the last nine years. Imports by Country
Thailand (X tons), Indonesia (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) represented roughly 73% of total imports in 2021. Malaysia (X tons) held a 10% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by the Philippines (9.6%) and Singapore (6.4%).
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +23.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest polyamide importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together comprising 76% of total imports. These countries were followed by Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia, which together accounted for a further 24%.
In terms of the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +22.5%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, picking up by 18% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+1.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the import price figures.
