Moreover, Singapore emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +37.8% from 2012-2021. Malaysia experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia increased by +7.5, +7.3 and +2.2 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest hair waving or straightening preparations supplier in ASEAN, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 7.2% share.

In value terms, the largest hair waving or straightening preparations importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together accounting for 73% of total imports. These countries were followed by Singapore, Malaysia, Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Philippines, which together accounted for a further 24%.
