In 2021, the ASEAN liquid dispensing pump market increased by 16% to $X, rising for the third year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the market reached the peak level at $X in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

After two years of decline, shipments abroad of pumps for dispensing liquids increased by 26% to X units in 2021. In general, exports, however, showed a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 51%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, liquid dispensing pump exports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, showed a perceptible downturn. The level of export peaked at $X in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

Thailand represented the largest exporting country with an export of around X units, which recorded 58% of total exports. Singapore (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X units), Indonesia (X units) and Vietnam (X units). All these countries together took approx. 41% share of total exports.

Exports from Thailand decreased at an average annual rate of -9.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+23.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +23.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Malaysia (-1.4%), Singapore (-2.6%) and Indonesia (-36.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Thailand (+34 p.p.), Malaysia (+12 p.p.), Singapore (+11 p.p.) and Vietnam (+5.2 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Indonesia (-62.9 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest liquid dispensing pump supplier in ASEAN, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Malaysia, with a 3% share.

In Singapore, liquid dispensing pump exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Thailand (-9.3% per year) and Malaysia (-12.9% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, picking up by 8.8% against the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 192% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+16.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN

Liquid dispensing pump imports surged to X units in 2021, jumping by 17% compared with the year before. In general, imports, however, showed a abrupt slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.

The following importers - Malaysia (X units) and Myanmar (X units) - each finished at a 9% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Myanmar (with a CAGR of +4.8%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

In value terms, the largest liquid dispensing pump importing markets in ASEAN were Singapore ($X), Thailand ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for 64% of total imports. Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.

Among the main importing countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +11.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the imports figures.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, increasing by 9% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +5.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by 23% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+6.3%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
