From 2014 to 2021, production growth remained at a lower figure.

Exports in ASEAN
In 2021, shipments abroad of railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings decreased by -6.2% to X tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw noticeable growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 223% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, railway track fixture exports dropped to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed moderate growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when exports increased by 258% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Malaysia was the key exporting country with an export of around X tons, which accounted for 51% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X tons), Vietnam (X tons) and Thailand (X tons), together achieving a 47% share of total exports.
Exports from Malaysia increased at an average annual rate of +2.4% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+55.1%) and Thailand (+9.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +55.1% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Singapore (-1.3%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Vietnam and Thailand increased by +18 and +1.7 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) remains the largest railway track fixture supplier in ASEAN, comprising 60% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Singapore ($X), with a 24% share of total exports. It was followed by Vietnam, with a 13% share.
In Malaysia, railway track fixture exports expanded at an average annual rate of +2.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Singapore (-0.8% per year) and Vietnam (+57.5% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -9.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2013 an increase of 57% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2014 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while Thailand ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+1.5%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ASEAN
After two years of decline, purchases abroad of railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings increased by 60% to X tons in 2021. Over the period under review, imports enjoyed a strong expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, railway track fixture imports surged to $X in 2021. In general, imports saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of 43%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $X in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the three major importers of railway or tramway track fixtures and fittings, namely Singapore, Malaysia and Lao People's Democratic Republic, represented more than two-thirds of total import. Indonesia (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Thailand (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 27% share of total imports. Myanmar (X tons) took a relatively small share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Lao People's Democratic Republic (with a CAGR of +116.4%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest railway track fixture importing markets in ASEAN were Singapore ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Indonesia ($X), together accounting for 69% of total imports. Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Lao People's Democratic Republic lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 27%.
Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a CAGR of +61.4%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, in terms of the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, reducing by -23.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a deep contraction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 an increase of 39%. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Myanmar ($X per ton), while Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
