The ASEAN market for residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture fell to $X in 2021, leveling off at the previous year. Overall, consumption showed a relatively flat trend pattern. In general, exports, however, showed a pronounced decline. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the maximum at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, exports of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Total exports indicated temperate growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, exports increased by +98.0% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 40%. Over the period under review, the exports of attained the peak figure in 2021 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

Exports by Country

Thailand (X units), Malaysia (X units) and Vietnam (X units) represented roughly 80% of total exports in 2021. Indonesia (X units) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Cambodia (X units). All these countries together took near 15% share of total exports. The Philippines (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Cambodia (with a CAGR of +77.2%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture supplying countries in ASEAN were Vietnam ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined 74% share of total exports. These countries were followed by the Philippines, Cambodia and Indonesia, which together accounted for a further 24%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Cambodia, with a CAGR of +74.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -23.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 41% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020, and then fell dramatically in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+19.7%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2021, overseas purchases of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture were finally on the rise to reach X units after three years of decline. Total imports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when imports increased by 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, imports of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture expanded significantly to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a remarkable increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 14%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in years to come.

Imports by Country

Thailand (X units) and Malaysia (X units) represented the largest importers of residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture in 2021, recording approx. 29% and 24% of total imports, respectively. Indonesia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with an 11% share, followed by Vietnam (10%), the Philippines (8.4%), Singapore (6.7%) and Myanmar (5.6%).

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +18.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Thailand ($X), Vietnam ($X) and the Philippines ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2021, together accounting for 62% of total imports.

Vietnam, with a CAGR of +24.0%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, among the main importing countries over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, with a decrease of -2.1% against the previous year. Import price indicated perceptible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +4.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, import price for residential, commercial and industrial lighting fixture decreased by -3.7% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 an increase of 62%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2020 to 2021, the import prices remained at a lower figure.
