In 2022, overseas shipments of saturated acyclic hydrocarbons increased by 12% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. In general, exports, however, recorded a deep downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 144%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X tons in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, saturated acyclic hydrocarbons exports soared to $X in 2022. Overall, exports, however, showed a deep reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 78%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
Thailand (X tons) and Singapore (X tons) represented the key exporters of saturated acyclic hydrocarbons in 2022, amounting to near 45% and 35% of total exports, respectively. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons), making up a 19% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Malaysia (with a CAGR of +3.3%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.
In value terms, the largest saturated acyclic hydrocarbons supplying countries in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Malaysia ($X), together comprising 100% of total exports.
Among the main exporting countries, Malaysia, with a CAGR of +1.1%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, surging by 20% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the export price increased by 57%. The level of export peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Malaysia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in ASEAN
Saturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports declined modestly to X tons in 2022, which is down by -3.1% against the previous year. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 71%. The volume of import peaked at X tons in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, saturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports soared to $X in 2022. In general, imports recorded a mild reduction. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when imports increased by 44% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Singapore (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) represented the largest importers of saturated acyclic hydrocarbons in ASEAN, together recording near 58% of total imports. The Philippines (X tons) held the next position in the ranking, followed by Indonesia (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 38% share of total imports. Thailand (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by the Philippines (with a CAGR of +21.0%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported saturated acyclic hydrocarbons in ASEAN, comprising 44% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 17% share of total imports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 14% share.
In Singapore, saturated acyclic hydrocarbons imports shrank by an average annual rate of -5.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Indonesia (-0.1% per year) and the Philippines (+23.0% per year).
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 29% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, recorded a perceptible slump. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
