For the fifth year in a row, ASEAN recorded growth in supplies from abroad of scent sprays, which increased by X% to X tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted a resilient increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.

In value terms, scent spray imports expanded modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports saw a tangible increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Indonesia (X tons) represented the main importer of scent sprays, creating X% of total imports. Vietnam (X tons) took a X% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (X%), the Philippines (X%) and Malaysia (X%).

In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, waning by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when the import price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($X per ton), while the Philippines ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
