The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 with an increase of 50%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cellulose fibrecement sheet exports rose significantly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Exports by Country

Thailand was the main exporting country with an export of about X tons, which accounted for 80% of total exports. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons), together creating a 19% share of total exports.

Exports from Thailand increased at an average annual rate of +19.4% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+37.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +37.9% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Malaysia (-5.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2022, the share of Thailand and Indonesia increased by +37 and +7.8 percentage points, respectively.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest cellulose fibrecement sheet supplier in ASEAN, comprising 76% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.

In Thailand, cellulose fibrecement sheet exports increased at an average annual rate of +17.1% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Malaysia (-6.9% per year) and Indonesia (+35.6% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per ton, shrinking by -1.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a pronounced shrinkage. Imports in ASEAN

In 2022, cellulose fibrecement sheet imports in ASEAN skyrocketed to X tons, growing by 23% compared with the previous year's figure. In general, imports showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when imports increased by 103% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, cellulose fibrecement sheet imports soared to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports posted strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when imports increased by 55%. The level of import peaked in 2022 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

The Philippines dominates imports structure, amounting to X tons, which was approx. 73% of total imports in 2022. Vietnam (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Indonesia (X tons). All these countries together took near 9.1% share of total imports. The following importers - Malaysia (X tons), Myanmar (X tons), Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) and Cambodia (X tons) - each reached a 16% share of total imports.

Imports into the Philippines increased at an average annual rate of +15.5% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Myanmar (+40.1%), Cambodia (+5.2%), Indonesia (+3.7%), Malaysia (+3.0%) and Vietnam (+2.3%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Myanmar emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +40.1% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Lao People's Democratic Republic (-12.5%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of the Philippines (+73 p.p.) and Myanmar (+3.7 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of Cambodia (-4.2 p.p.), Indonesia (-6.5 p.p.), Malaysia (-7.1 p.p.), Vietnam (-8.2 p.p.) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (-49.5 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.

In value terms, the Philippines ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported sheets, panels and tiles of cellulose fibrecement in ASEAN, comprising 61% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Lao People's Democratic Republic, with a 5.6% share.

In the Philippines, cellulose fibrecement sheet imports increased at an average annual rate of +18.9% over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Vietnam (+8.9% per year) and Lao People's Democratic Republic (-9.3% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2022, surging by 9.5% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a slight shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 an increase of 16% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
