In 2021, overseas shipments of single loudspeakers (in enclosure) decreased by -46.5% to X units for the first time since 2014, thus ending a six-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, recorded significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 149%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X units, and then contracted rapidly in the following year.
In value terms, loudspeaker exports dropped notably to $X in 2021. In general, exports, however, enjoyed strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 83% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Vietnam dominates exports structure, finishing at X units, which was approx. 92% of total exports in 2021. The following exporters - Malaysia (X units) and Singapore (X units) - each reached a 4.5% share of total exports.
Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the single loudspeakers (in enclosure) exports, with a CAGR of +80.0% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Malaysia (+13.0%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Singapore (-3.4%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Vietnam increased by +86 percentage points.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest loudspeaker supplier in ASEAN, comprising 59% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 12% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Vietnam amounted to +88.4%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (+5.0% per year) and Malaysia (+2.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, faced a deep slump. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Vietnam ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+8.6%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2021, purchases abroad of single loudspeakers (in enclosure) was finally on the rise to reach X units after two years of decline. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, loudspeaker imports contracted to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a resilient expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.3% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports increased by +68.5% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 33% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2020, and then reduced in the following year.
Imports by Country
In 2021, Vietnam (X units), distantly followed by Indonesia (X units), Thailand (X units) and Malaysia (X units) were the key importers of single loudspeakers (in enclosure), together making up 94% of total imports. The following importers - the Philippines (X units) and Singapore (X units) - each resulted at a 4% share of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for the Philippines (with a CAGR of +20.6%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest loudspeaker importing markets in ASEAN were Malaysia ($X), Vietnam ($X) and Thailand ($X), with a combined 69% share of total imports. Singapore, the Philippines and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 27%.
In terms of the main importing countries, the Philippines, with a CAGR of +15.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, dropping by -28% against the previous year. Import price indicated tangible growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +3.4% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, loudspeaker import price increased by +68.2% against 2016 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2020, and then shrank remarkably in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
