Knitted ski-suit exports reduced to X units in 2022, with a decrease of -13.6% on the year before. Overall, exports, however, enjoyed pronounced growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 596% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, knitted ski-suit exports declined rapidly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 243% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Exports by Country

In 2022, Vietnam (X units) represented the key exporter of ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles, achieving 79% of total exports. Indonesia (X units) took a 12% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Myanmar (5.7%). Cambodia (X units) took a minor share of total exports.

Vietnam was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles exports, with a CAGR of +5.8% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Indonesia (+4.4%) and Cambodia (+3.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Myanmar (-12.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+9.5 p.p.) and Myanmar (+5.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest knitted ski-suit supplier in ASEAN, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Indonesia ($X), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Cambodia, with a 4.6% share.

In Vietnam, knitted ski-suit exports remained relatively stable over the period from 2012-2022. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Indonesia (+10.7% per year) and Cambodia (+9.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2022, waning by -13% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2016 an increase of 107%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Cambodia ($X per unit), while Myanmar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

In 2022, overseas purchases of ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles decreased by -3.4% to X units for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year rising trend. In general, imports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 252% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2021, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, knitted ski-suit imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports recorded a perceptible curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 with an increase of 295% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.

Imports by Country

The purchases of the one major importers of ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles, namely Thailand, represented more than two-thirds of total import.

Thailand was also the fastest-growing in terms of the ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles imports, with a CAGR of +60.7% from 2012 to 2022. While the share of Thailand (+92 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported ski-suits of knitted or crocheted textiles in ASEAN.

In Thailand, knitted ski-suit imports increased at an average annual rate of +32.7% over the period from 2012-2022.

Import Prices by Country

In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, reducing by -10.9% against the previous year. In general, the import price recorded a sharp decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 an increase of 42% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Thailand.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Thailand amounted to -17.4% per year.
