Hand Stamp Market Size in ASEAN
The ASEAN hand stamp market was finally on the rise to reach $X in 2022, after three years of decline. In general, consumption, however, recorded a abrupt contraction. The level of consumption peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, hand stamp production fell modestly to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. Over the period under review, production showed a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 32% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, production failed to regain momentum.

Exports in ASEAN
In 2022, hand stamp exports in ASEAN shrank sharply to X units, waning by -20.2% compared with 2021 figures. Total exports indicated a modest increase from 2012 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.4% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +49.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 87%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units, and then reduced dramatically in the following year.
In value terms, hand stamp exports shrank markedly to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 86% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then contracted notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
In 2022, Vietnam (X units) was the largest exporter of stamps for use in the hand, making up 53% of total exports. Malaysia (X units) took an 18% share (based on physical terms) of total exports, which put it in second place, followed by Thailand (14%), the Philippines (8%) and Singapore (6.6%).
From 2012 to 2022, average annual rates of growth with regard to hand stamp exports from Vietnam stood at +2.8%. At the same time, the Philippines (+6.2%) and Malaysia (+2.5%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +6.2% from 2012-2022. By contrast, Thailand (-1.1%) and Singapore (-5.2%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Vietnam (+6.7 p.p.), the Philippines (+2.9 p.p.) and Malaysia (+1.7 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Thailand and Singapore saw its share reduced by -4% and -6.3% from 2012 to 2022, respectively.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X) remains the largest hand stamp supplier in ASEAN, comprising 52% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Malaysia ($X), with a 19% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 14% share.
In Vietnam, hand stamp exports expanded at an average annual rate of +6.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Malaysia (+1.1% per year) and Thailand (-8.2% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2022, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, flattening at the previous year. Overall, the export price recorded a mild shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 20% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Singapore ($X per unit) and Malaysia ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) and Vietnam ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+4.1%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.
Hand Stamp Imports
Imports in ASEAN
In 2022, the amount of stamps for use in the hand imported in ASEAN stood at X units, increasing by 3% against the year before. In general, imports, however, recorded a mild decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 19%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X units. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, hand stamp imports contracted to $X in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X, and then contracted in the following year.
Imports by Country
The purchases of the four major importers of stamps for use in the hand, namely Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand, represented more than two-thirds of total import. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units), constituting a 4.7% share of total imports. The Philippines (X units) and Myanmar (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Myanmar (with a CAGR of +34.7%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X), Malaysia ($X) and Thailand ($X) constituted the countries with the highest levels of imports in 2022, with a combined 65% share of total imports. Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Myanmar lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.
Among the main importing countries, Myanmar, with a CAGR of +20.0%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2022, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -11.2% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 20% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2021, and then dropped in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Myanmar ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
