Overall, exports saw a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 when exports increased by 140% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, threshing machinery exports reduced sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 48% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

Thailand (X units) and Malaysia (X units) represented roughly 76% of total exports in 2022. Indonesia (X units) ranks next in terms of the total exports with a 14% share, followed by Vietnam (9.3%).

From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for Vietnam (with a CAGR of +1.4%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

In value terms, the largest threshing machinery supplying countries in ASEAN were Malaysia ($X), Thailand ($X) and Vietnam ($X), together accounting for 91% of total exports. Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, comprising a further 8.8%.

In terms of the main exporting countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of -12.6%, recorded the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced a decline in the exports figures.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 an increase of 47%. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (-1.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

In 2022, approx. X units of threshing machinery except combine harvester-threshers were imported in ASEAN; with an increase of 22% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports posted a noticeable expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when imports increased by 62%. The volume of import peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, threshing machinery imports rose modestly to $X in 2022. In general, imports, however, recorded a pronounced reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 with an increase of 65% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2022, Lao People's Democratic Republic (X units) represented the largest importer of threshing machinery except combine harvester-threshers, creating 40% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X units), Cambodia (X units), Indonesia (X units) and Vietnam (X units), together making up a 56% share of total imports. Singapore (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the key importing countries, was attained by Lao People's Democratic Republic (with a CAGR of +33.5%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported threshing machinery except combine harvester-threshers in ASEAN, comprising 42% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Vietnam ($X), with a 19% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 19% share.

In Lao People's Democratic Republic, threshing machinery imports increased at an average annual rate of +20.4% over the period from 2012-2022. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Vietnam (-10.7% per year) and Thailand (-10.0% per year).

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($X per unit), while Cambodia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
