Travel Set Market Size in ASEAN
In 2021, the ASEAN travel set market increased by 9.8% to $X, rising for the third year in a row after five years of decline. The total consumption indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.7% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +108.3% against 2018 indices. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in years to come.

In value terms, travel set production reduced to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, enjoyed a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when the production volume increased by 148% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production reached the maximum level at $X in 2020, and then dropped in the following year.

Exports in ASEAN
In 2021, shipments abroad of travel sets decreased by -30.9% to X units, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. In general, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 219%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X units. From 2020 to 2021, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, travel set exports declined rapidly to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 59%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.
Exports by Country
Cambodia represented the largest exporter of travel sets in ASEAN, with the volume of exports recording X units, which was near 39% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Thailand (X units), Indonesia (X units), Singapore (X units), Malaysia (X units) and Vietnam (X units), together creating a 59% share of total exports. The Philippines (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Cambodia was also the fastest-growing in terms of the travel sets exports, with a CAGR of +51.1% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Indonesia (+7.5%) and Vietnam (+5.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. Malaysia and Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Thailand (-13.3%) and the Philippines (-14.1%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Cambodia (+38 p.p.), Indonesia (+7.7 p.p.) and Vietnam (+2.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while the Philippines and Thailand saw its share reduced by -5.6% and -42.9% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Cambodia ($X) remains the largest travel set supplier in ASEAN, comprising 41% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 13% share.
In Cambodia, travel set exports expanded at an average annual rate of +43.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (-5.2% per year) and Thailand (-22.6% per year).
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, which is down by -11% against the previous year. Overall, the export price continues to indicate a deep slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the export price increased by 97% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the peak figure at $X per unit in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Philippines (+2.9%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in ASEAN
In 2021, supplies from abroad of travel sets was finally on the rise to reach X units for the first time since 2015, thus ending a five-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at X units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, travel set imports soared to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, saw a perceptible reduction. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Malaysia (X units) and Indonesia (X units) dominates imports structure, together making up 81% of total imports. It was distantly followed by Singapore (X units), comprising a 7.8% share of total imports. The following importers - the Philippines (X units), Thailand (X units) and Vietnam (X units) - together made up 10% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were recorded for Indonesia (with a CAGR of +27.0%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Malaysia ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported travel sets in ASEAN, comprising 60% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Singapore ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 9.7% share.
In Malaysia, travel set imports increased at an average annual rate of +7.2% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Singapore (-10.4% per year) and Indonesia (+23.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, declining by -6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 20%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Thailand ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
