In value terms, orange juice (single strength) production surged to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of 39%. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2020 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In 2021, approx. X tons of orange juice (single strength) were exported in ASEAN; with a decrease of -3.9% against the year before. In general, exports, however, posted a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 74%. The volume of export peaked at X tons in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, orange juice (single strength) exports amounted to $X in 2021. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 when exports increased by 63%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Thailand prevails in exports structure, recording X tons, which was near 78% of total exports in 2021. Myanmar (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Indonesia (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 15% share of total exports. Singapore (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to orange juice (single strength) exports from Thailand stood at +26.6%. At the same time, Indonesia (+46.4%) and Myanmar (+39.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +46.4% from 2012-2021. Singapore experienced a relatively flat trend pattern. By contrast, Vietnam (-18.0%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Thailand (+51 p.p.), Myanmar (+8.5 p.p.) and Indonesia (+4.5 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Singapore and Vietnam saw its share reduced by -8.1% and -25.3% from 2012 to 2021, respectively.

In value terms, Thailand ($X) remains the largest orange juice (single strength) supplier in ASEAN, comprising 77% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Myanmar ($X), with an 8.6% share of total exports. It was followed by Indonesia, with a 5.9% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual growth rate of value in Thailand stood at +23.5%. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Myanmar (+46.9% per year) and Indonesia (+49.4% per year).

Export Prices by Country

The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, rising by 6.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a pronounced setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2019 when the export price increased by 33%. Over the period under review, the export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2021, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, major exporting countries recorded the following prices: in Indonesia ($X per ton) and Vietnam ($X per ton), while Myanmar ($X per ton) and Thailand ($X per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Myanmar (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Orange Juice (Single Strength)

Imports in ASEAN

Orange juice (single strength) imports declined to X tons in 2021, which is down by -14.3% on the year before. Overall, imports continue to indicate a perceptible contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2014 with an increase of 44%. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, orange juice (single strength) imports declined to $X in 2021. In general, imports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when imports increased by 60%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Imports by Country

In 2021, Singapore (X tons) represented the main importer of orange juice (single strength), creating 41% of total imports. Lao People's Democratic Republic (X tons) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by the Philippines (X tons), Myanmar (X tons) and Malaysia (X tons). All these countries together held approx. 45% share of total imports. The following importers - Cambodia (X tons) and Indonesia (X tons) - each finished at an 8.2% share of total imports.

From 2012 to 2021, the biggest increases were in Lao People's Democratic Republic (with a CAGR of +32.3%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported orange juice (single strength) in ASEAN, comprising 48% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X), with a 13% share of total imports. It was followed by the Philippines, with a 12% share.

From 2012 to 2021, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in Singapore amounted to -1.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Lao People's Democratic Republic (+32.9% per year) and the Philippines (+29.4% per year).

Import Prices by Country

The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, increasing by 3.9% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +2.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 when the import price increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2021, the import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Indonesia ($X per ton), while Lao People's Democratic Republic ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
