In 2021, video monitor exports in ASEAN shrank significantly to X units, which is down by -17.9% on the previous year. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 with an increase of 83%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, video monitor exports reduced dramatically to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed prominent growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when exports increased by 47%. The level of export peaked at $X in 2020, and then shrank rapidly in the following year.
Exports by Country
The shipments of the six major exporters of video monitors, namely Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Indonesia, represented more than two-thirds of total export.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main exporting countries, was attained by Vietnam (with a CAGR of +41.5%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
In value terms, Vietnam ($X), the Philippines ($X) and Thailand ($X) appeared to be the countries with the highest levels of exports in 2021, with a combined 70% share of total exports.
In terms of the main exporting countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +40.3%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the exports figures.
Export Prices by Country
In 2021, the export price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, with an increase of 1.6% against the previous year. Export price indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its price increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, video monitor export price increased by +83.2% against 2017 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 58%. The level of export peaked in 2021 and is likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in ASEAN
Video monitor imports surged to X units in 2021, picking up by 41% against 2020. In general, imports continue to indicate a resilient increase. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, video monitor imports surged to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
Thailand was the main importing country with an import of around X units, which amounted to 35% of total imports. The Philippines (X units) took the second position in the ranking, followed by Malaysia (X units), Vietnam (X units), Singapore (X units) and Indonesia (X units). All these countries together held approx. 64% share of total imports.
Imports into Thailand increased at an average annual rate of +11.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, the Philippines (+20.9%), Vietnam (+11.1%), Indonesia (+4.3%) and Malaysia (+3.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, the Philippines emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +20.9% from 2012-2021. By contrast, Singapore (-3.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. From 2012 to 2021, the share of the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam increased by +16, +9.9 and +3.2 percentage points, respectively.
In value terms, the largest video monitor importing markets in ASEAN were Thailand ($X), Singapore ($X) and Malaysia ($X), with a combined 72% share of total imports. Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 28%.
Among the main importing countries, Indonesia, with a CAGR of +7.2%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
In 2021, the import price in ASEAN amounted to $X per unit, dropping by -3.7% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a pronounced downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of 22% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably country of destination: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while the Philippines ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
