The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per ton in 2021, dropping by -3.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export price recorded a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the export price increased by 30%. In 2021, overseas purchases of worked flat glass increased by 136% to X tons, rising for the second year in a row after two years of decline. Over the period under review, imports posted a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 167% against the previous year. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is likely to continue growth in years to come.

In value terms, worked flat glass imports soared to $X in 2021. Overall, imports enjoyed a strong expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Imports by Country

Singapore represented the largest importer of worked flat glass in ASEAN, with the volume of imports accounting for X tons, which was near 78% of total imports in 2021. Vietnam (X tons) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a 15% share, followed by Malaysia (5.2%).

From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to worked flat glass imports into Singapore stood at +6.7%. At the same time, Vietnam (+55.4%) and Malaysia (+10.1%) displayed positive paces of growth.
