In 2021, the ASEAN x-ray tube market increased by 21% to $X for the first time since 2018, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, consumption, however, showed a slight descent. Over the period under review, the market hit record highs at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2021, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, x-ray tube production contracted modestly to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. Overall, production recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 when the production volume increased by 2,684% against the previous year. Over the period under review, production attained the peak level at $X in 2020, and then fell slightly in the following year.

Exports in ASEAN
X-ray tube exports rose to X units in 2021, increasing by 4.6% on the previous year's figure. Overall, exports saw strong growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2015 when exports increased by 62% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, x-ray tube exports stood at $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports showed a prominent expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 when exports increased by 82% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Exports by Country
Singapore prevails in exports structure, accounting for X units, which was approx. 91% of total exports in 2021. Thailand (X units) and Indonesia (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Singapore was also the fastest-growing in terms of the x-ray tubes exports, with a CAGR of +17.8% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Thailand (+8.4%) and Indonesia (+3.9%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of Singapore (+12 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2021, the share of Thailand (-3 p.p.) and Indonesia (-5.4 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) remains the largest x-ray tube supplier in ASEAN, comprising 95% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by Thailand ($X), with a 2.6% share of total exports.
In Singapore, x-ray tube exports increased at an average annual rate of +18.4% over the period from 2012-2021. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Thailand (+12.7% per year) and Indonesia (+9.3% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, remaining constant against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 when the export price increased by 19%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $X per unit. From 2019 to 2021, the export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Singapore ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Indonesia (+5.2%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports in ASEAN
After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of x-ray tubes increased by 9.3% to X units in 2021. Total imports indicated a perceptible expansion from 2012 to 2021: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +4.7% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -28.0% against 2018 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2016 with an increase of 36%. The volume of import peaked at X units in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, x-ray tube imports surged to $X in 2021. Total imports indicated a buoyant increase from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +5.2% over the last nine-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, imports decreased by -10.6% against 2018 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 with an increase of 33%. The level of import peaked at $X in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2021, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
Singapore dominates imports structure, reaching X units, which was near 75% of total imports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Malaysia (X units), Thailand (X units) and Indonesia (X units), together committing a 19% share of total imports. Vietnam (X units) and the Philippines (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
From 2012 to 2021, average annual rates of growth with regard to x-ray tube imports into Singapore stood at +4.3%. At the same time, Indonesia (+19.5%), Vietnam (+8.6%), Thailand (+5.7%), Malaysia (+2.2%) and the Philippines (+1.4%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Indonesia emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in ASEAN, with a CAGR of +19.5% from 2012-2021. From 2012 to 2021, the share of Indonesia increased by +3.4 percentage points. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Singapore ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported x-ray tubes in ASEAN, comprising 75% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Malaysia ($X), with a 7.6% share of total imports. It was followed by Thailand, with a 7.3% share.
In Singapore, x-ray tube imports expanded at an average annual rate of +4.6% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining importing countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Malaysia (+3.5% per year) and Thailand (+6.1% per year).
Import Prices by Country
The import price in ASEAN stood at $X per unit in 2021, surging by 5.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 12%. The level of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, major importing countries recorded the following prices: in the Philippines ($X per unit) and Malaysia ($X per unit), while Indonesia ($X per unit) and Vietnam ($X per unit) were amongst the lowest.
