In 2022, the Asian aircraft market increased by 1,360% to $X, rising for the second year in a row after three years of decline. Overall, consumption showed a significant increase. As a result, consumption reached the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Aircraft Production in Asia
In value terms, aircraft production dropped remarkably to $X in 2022 estimated in export price. In general, production, however, enjoyed a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2015 with an increase of 426% against the previous year. The level of production peaked at $X in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, production remained at a lower figure.

In 2022, overseas shipments of airplanes and other aircraft decreased by -51.1% to X units for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, exports, however, recorded a significant expansion. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2015 with an increase of 501%. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2017; however, from 2018 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, aircraft exports shrank notably to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, posted a tangible expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of 683%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, resulting at X units, which was near 90% of total exports in 2022. South Korea (X units), Israel (X units) and Singapore (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the airplanes and other aircraft exports, with a CAGR of +54.1% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Singapore (+53.9%) and South Korea (+25.2%) displayed positive paces of growth. By contrast, Israel (-8.9%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of China (+77 p.p.) and Singapore (+1.6 p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total exports from 2012-2022, the share of Israel (-50.7 p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) remains the largest aircraft supplier in Asia, comprising 70% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Israel ($X), with a 17% share of total exports. It was followed by South Korea, with a 3.9% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of value in China amounted to +28.0%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Israel (-10.0% per year) and South Korea (+14.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, shrinking by -60.2% against the previous year. In general, the export price faced a deep downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 when the export price increased by 61% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the export prices hit record highs at $X per unit in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Israel ($X per unit), while Singapore ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Israel (-1.2%), while the other leaders experienced a decline in the export price figures.

Imports in Asia
In 2022, purchases abroad of airplanes and other aircraft increased by 2,402% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant expansion. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, aircraft imports contracted notably to $X in 2022. In general, imports posted buoyant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 515%. As a result, imports reached the peak of $X. From 2018 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, the Philippines (X units) represented the major importer of airplanes and other aircraft in Asia, constituting 98% of total import.
The Philippines was also the fastest-growing in terms of the airplanes and other aircraft imports, with a CAGR of +130.5% from 2012 to 2022. From 2012 to 2022, the share of the Philippines increased by +96 percentage points, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the Philippines ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported airplanes and other aircraft in Asia.
In the Philippines, aircraft imports expanded at an average annual rate of +60.1% over the period from 2012-2022.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per unit in 2022, declining by -99% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a dramatic curtailment. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 76% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $X per unit, and then shrank markedly in the following year.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the Philippines.
