The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 when exports increased by 67%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of X tons. From 2015 to 2021, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, albumins and albuminates exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a measured expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 when exports increased by 73% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In 2021, Singapore (X tons) and Israel (X tons) represented the main exporters of albumins, albuminates and other derivatives (excluding egg albumin) in Asia, together amounting to near 59% of total exports. Iran (X tons) took the next position in the ranking, followed by Turkey (X tons), China (X tons) and India (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 28% share of total exports. The Philippines (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

For the seventh year in a row, Asia recorded growth in supplies from abroad of albumins, albuminates and other derivatives (excluding egg albumin), which increased by 21% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports saw strong growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 29%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2021 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.
In value terms, albumins and albuminates imports soared to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a strong increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 37%. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
Imports by Country
China (X tons), Japan (X tons) and India (X tons) represented roughly 74% of total imports in 2021. Singapore (X tons) took a 9% share (based on physical terms) of total imports, which put it in second place, followed by South Korea (6%). The following importers - Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Vietnam (X tons) - together made up 4.6% of total imports.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main importing countries, was attained by Singapore (with a CAGR of +48.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest albumins and albuminates importing markets in Asia were China ($X), Japan ($X) and India ($X), together accounting for 74% of total imports. Singapore, South Korea, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 20%.
