The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, picking up by 21% against the previous year. Over the last nine-year period, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.0%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Prices varied noticeably country of origin: the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while Indonesia ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, aluminium bar imports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +1.8% over the period from 2012 to 2021; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 with an increase of 26%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2021, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.

The purchases of the twelve major importers of aluminium bars, rods and profiles, namely Israel, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand, India, Iraq, China, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Kuwait and Yemen, represented more than two-thirds of total import. South Korea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.

In 2021, the import price in Asia amounted to $X per ton, increasing by 8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the import price increased by 9.2%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the import prices failed to regain momentum.
