Antisera Market Size in Asia
After six years of growth, the Asian antisera market decreased by -12.7% to $X in 2021. The total consumption indicated strong growth from 2012 to 2021: its value increased at an average annual rate of +7.5% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2021 figures, consumption increased by +91.7% against 2012 indices. As a result, consumption reached the peak level of $X, and then dropped in the following year.
Antisera Production in Asia
In value terms, antisera production shrank to $X in 2021 estimated in export price. In general, production showed a prominent increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the production volume increased by 80% against the previous year. As a result, production reached the peak level of $X. From 2018 to 2021, production growth remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Exports in Asia
In 2021, antisera exports in Asia soared to X tons, increasing by 158% compared with the previous year. Over the period under review, exports saw significant growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 184% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, antisera exports skyrocketed to $X in 2021. Overall, exports saw a significant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 99% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
Exports by Country
China dominates exports structure, resulting at X tons, which was near 90% of total exports in 2021. It was distantly followed by Turkey (X tons), constituting a 4.6% share of total exports. South Korea (X tons) followed a long way behind the leaders.
China was also the fastest-growing in terms of the antisera and other blood fractions exports, with a CAGR of +45.6% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, South Korea (+45.5%) and Turkey (+43.1%) displayed positive paces of growth. While the share of China (+24 p.p.) increased significantly, the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, China ($X) emerged as the largest antisera supplier in Asia, comprising 56% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($X), with a 16% share of total exports.
In China, antisera exports increased at an average annual rate of +59.1% over the period from 2012-2021. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: South Korea (+50.2% per year) and Turkey (+71.9% per year).
Export Prices by Country
The export price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, declining by -44.3% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a perceptible shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2017 when the export price increased by 85%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2018 to 2021, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($X per ton), while China ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+20.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Antisera Imports
Imports in Asia
For the tenth year in a row, Asia recorded growth in overseas purchases of antisera and other blood fractions, which increased by 18% to X tons in 2021. In general, imports showed a prominent expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 with an increase of 24%. The volume of import peaked in 2021 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, antisera imports surged to $X in 2021. Over the period under review, imports showed a remarkable increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when imports increased by 21% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2021 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
Imports by Country
China represented the key importing country with an import of around X tons, which recorded 36% of total imports. Japan (X tons) held the second position in the ranking, followed by Turkey (X tons), South Korea (X tons), Taiwan (Chinese) (X tons) and Thailand (X tons). All these countries together took approx. 34% share of total imports. India (X tons), Israel (X tons), Vietnam (X tons), the Philippines (X tons), Saudi Arabia (X tons) and Hong Kong SAR (X tons) held a little share of total imports.
Imports into China increased at an average annual rate of +16.2% from 2012 to 2021. At the same time, Vietnam (+53.2%), the Philippines (+32.6%), Saudi Arabia (+30.3%), Thailand (+27.7%), India (+25.4%), Taiwan (Chinese) (+23.4%), Hong Kong SAR (+21.1%), Israel (+13.1%), South Korea (+10.2%), Turkey (+9.1%) and Japan (+1.6%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Vietnam emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Asia, with a CAGR of +53.2% from 2012-2021. China (+10 p.p.), Thailand (+3.3 p.p.), Taiwan (Chinese) (+3.1 p.p.), India (+2.7 p.p.), Vietnam (+2.6 p.p.), the Philippines (+2 p.p.) and Saudi Arabia (+1.8 p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total imports, while Turkey and Japan saw its share reduced by -1.6% and -16.8% from 2012 to 2021, respectively. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, the largest antisera importing markets in Asia were China ($X), Japan ($X) and Turkey ($X), together accounting for 74% of total imports. These countries were followed by South Korea, Taiwan (Chinese), Israel, Saudi Arabia, India, Thailand, Hong Kong SAR, the Philippines and Vietnam, which together accounted for a further 17%.
In terms of the main importing countries, Vietnam, with a CAGR of +42.1%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of imports, over the period under review, while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
Import Prices by Country
The import price in Asia stood at $X per ton in 2021, falling by -2% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2021, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.0%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 when the import price increased by 19% against the previous year. The level of import peaked at $X per ton in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2021, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In 2021, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while Vietnam ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
